Offered for sale is a very original 1955 Bristol 405 with it’s matching numbers rebuilt engine, gearbox and carbs.
Anybody who knows these cars will know that it is very rare to find one with the engine as they are used in other projects and for racing.
The vehicle came to us with its owners intention of being concours restored. Work began on remaking interior pieces such as the front and rear seats in red leather as well as new door cards shaped from wood ready to be retrimmed to match.
The vehicle is also supplied with a history file containing registration documents which date back to March of 1955 and continue well into the 1980s. Also, in the file are various period marketing materials from Bristol Cars and Anthony Crook, a noted Bristol specialist.
The car body will require restoration and some woodwork refurbishment.
The chassis has been refurbished by others but we would remove the body again should we continue as we would need to know that works had been completed to our standards.
The car looks to be fairly complete.
This is an ideal opportunity for a new owner to complete a restoration with most of the hard and expensive work done.
Please not the 405 registration number will come with the car
Viewings are welcomed but by appointment only.
*Please note: When we first acquired the car, the engine and gearbox were removed. As part of the project, we began track down a replacement which were eventually found. After some research and good fortune, the replacement engine and gearbox actually turned out to be the original units supplied with the car when first delivered making them a matching numbers set!
The price of the car has been heavily reduced to get a quick sale.
