Description

Bridge Classic Cars are proud to present, our 1959 3.4 litre Jaguar MK1.
‘Grace, space and pace.’ Sir William Lyons’ words perfectly summarise our special MK1 Jaguar.

Finished in a deep Claret Red with beautiful biscuit interior, our delightful example benefits from overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear.

The biscuit interior, which is comfortable and luxurious is in absolutely remarkable condition. Paired delightfully with a mahogany dash, the interior of this car really is a show-stopper. The wire wheels are finished in a matching Claret Red, giving the car a unique look.

The Jaguar MK1 saloon was produced between 1955 and 1959, making our MK1 one of the latest in the series. The MK1 was originally introduced with a 2.4 litre engine, in 1957 Jaguar replaced it with a more powerful 3.4 litre engine, and along with the engine upgrade, later models came with wire wheels. Sadly a major factory fire destroyed the 3.4 litre production facility, making the 3.4 litre MK1’s rather rare. With manual overdrive, the 3.4 litre could do 0–60 mph in a time of 9.1 seconds which for a car of it’s era, is rather impressive.

The MKI Jaguar was an influential pioneer in the luxurious car market as it spearheaded the way for other sophisticated yet practical saloons to follow. It was compact, good to drive and relatively quick for the contemporary market of the 1950’s.
