The vendor purchased this Riley Elf MkII (an upmarket Mini variant) in 2003 as a first car for his son, but after a year or so, he needed something more modern. So the Elf was pushed into a barn and remained there until this year, with the engine being periodically started. It has recently been cleaned and tidied, with the vendor telling us that the ‘engine starts first time and sounds sweet’. However, the clutch and brakes are seized, although the vendor believes that all the electrics work and assumes that, if clutch was freed off, the gears would be okay. The car requires restoration, but is complete and believed original.
The car was registered in December 1966 and 22,059 miles are showing on the odometer. Judging by the MoT certificates, this total is actually 122,059 miles.
Documentation with the car includes the V5C (showing five previous registered keepers), old V5s and 13 MoT certificates from 1989 to 2003. The original BMC driver’s handbook is present along with the BMC Passport to Service book and a selection of old tax discs
