Description

First introduced at the London Motor Show of 1962, the Triumph Spitfire took on 5 evolutions throughout its 18-year production run. An ever-popular front-engined, rear-wheel drive, two-passenger, convertible British sports car, the Spitfire has certainly earned its place in British motoring history.

Initially developed on a shorter version of the Triumph Herald saloon chassis, the Spitfire shared the same running gear and standard SC engine as its Herald relative.

The name Spitfire is not necessarily immediately associated with cars, as the original Spitfire was a World War II fighter plane. Triumph decided to name a car after this successful plane and the outcome has stood the test of time and many remain out on the roads to this day.

Our beautiful 1973 Triumph Spitfire is the fourth evolution of the standard model (Mark IV). This version benefits from a redesigned back end which is similar to that of the Stag and 2000 models, as well as a revised front end to improve the overall look and style of the car.

Finished in stunning Carmine Red with a black and red interior, our Spitfire comes with a history file containing invoices, MOT certificates, parts catalogues, and a Haynes manual. Showing 59,000 miles, the car has been transported from its previous home in Scotland to the Bridge Classic Cars workshop in Suffolk ready for the lucky winner to take ownership of.

This is a fantastic example of a well-known classic and, through our partnership with East Anglian Air Ambulance, will play an important role in saving lives throughout the region.
