If you like rare cars, then you can’t get much rarer than our 1981 Volkswagen Scirocco Storm. With less than 50 licenced examples left in the UK, this really is a very special car.
The Volkswagen Scirocco was released in 1974 as an expansion of the current Volkswagen lineup. An elegant, 2 door hatchback penned by the legendary Giorgetto Giogiaro. Although it wore a VW badge, the car was engineered in partnership with Audi to create a fun and nimble front-wheel drive coupe.
Back in 1981, when it first drove out of the factory, it had a top speed of 115mph, and it could cover 0-60mph in less than 9 seconds. While it may not be able to do this today, at over 40 years old and after covering 126 thousand miles, the character, the styling, the feel, and the personality of the car more than makes up for it.
Using Golf underpinnings, the Scirocco was a massive success selling nearly 78,000 units in the UK alone over a 19-year production run. But very few were given the Storm badge. The Storm was a UK-only model launched in the late 1970s, and this is one of those cars!
The bronze-brown metallic paintwork and the tan leather interior give you the 80s luxury you would expect from a car like this, and the original Wolfsburg steering wheel adds even more character to this rare classic car. With its sunroof (added later) and alloy wheels, you can recreate what it would have been like in the mid to late eighties cruising around the UK in a car of this calibre.
Its age means that it is exempt from road tax and MOTs (although it does currently have an MOT valid until May 2023) so you can jump in the driving seat and hit the road anytime you like and enjoy this impressive piece of history.
If you want the chance to win our 1981 Volkswagen Scirocco Storm, all you have to do is buy your tickets and you will be entered into the draw.
