A 1980s icon that gave the masses sports car cool without the sports car price tag. All 3 generations of the Capri have gained a cult following since their introduction in the 1960s, and this 1986 Capri Mk3 goes to show why it has such a following.
Our Capri has been a member of the Ford Capri club. Finished in black with dark grey cloth interior, the car is in good condition inside and out. The interior has been worked on by our in-house trim shop to create a new dash pad and the vehicle sunroof mechanism has been repaired. While in our workshop, the carburettor on the car was rebuilt as well as the wiring, brakes and suspension all being inspected as part of the car’s assessment. Along with all of this, several panels of the car have been into our paint and body teams to be refurbished, most notably the rear hatch.
According to its history file, the 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine had been reworked in 2016 by Toovey Race Engines with the installation of oversized pistons, new bearings, a reprofiled cam shaft and followers, along with the cylinder head skimmed and the installation of new valves in the freshly recut valve seats. This car also benefits from an upgraded exhaust and back box, which gives a pleasant growl to the 4-cylinder engine. Within the cars history file are parts and labour invoices pertaining to brake rebuilds, services and several other jobs on this classic Capri.
