Description

The connection between one of the greatest racing names in history and a true giant in the automotive world spans some 35 years. Crossing multiple racing formulas and technology, Rover and BRM are common names in the classic car world with their combined efforts appearing in the 1963 and 1965 running of the 24hrs of Le Mans with the Rover BRM Gas Turbine car.

But, in 1997, these two names would appear once more on a small hot-hatch which became an underrated cult icon. The Rover 200 BRM.

Our 1999 Rover 200 BRM is one of the 1109 cars built to celebrate this union between the two automotive giants. The car features classic styling inspired by the 1960s such as the quilted red leather seats and machine-turned aluminium style panels on the interior, while the exterior carries the bright orange intake seen on the early BRM F1 cars of the early-mid 1960s.

Based on the Rover 200Vi, the 200 BRM features a 20mm lower ride-height than standard and a 1.8-litre 4-cylinder K-Series engine, fitted with a full stainless-steel Janspeed exhaust, which pulls evenly and strong thanks to its variable valve timing and paired with the close-ratio 5-speed manual gearbox, this combination of performance and usability made this the Rover hot-hatch to have in the late 1990s.

Our 1999 Rover 200 BRM, having covered under 58,00 miles in 24 years, has been given a full valet to refresh and invigorate the British Racing Green paint while rare and sought after alloy wheels were sourced and refurbished for the car.

The history file for our 1999 Rover 200 BRM contains multiple MOT records, invoices and works carried out including a cylinder head refresh in 2016 where the cylinder head was refaced and all the valve train was adjusted to work perfectly before a new head gasket was fitted.
